Johnson County responded to this fire

Johnson County TX retreat wildlife fireThis fire began on September 29 as a result of a lightning strike from a line of thunderstorms that moved through the region. While fire crews were completing mop-op operations earlier this morning (October 1) the fire reignited and moved into a large valley. This area is inaccessible to ground fire crews and consists of dense concentrations of cedar trees. As a result of low humidity values, the fire quickly spread and threatened five homes in ‘The Retreat’ subdivision.

Numerous agencies from Johnson County responded to this fire and the Texas Forest Service responded with several aircraft. While five homes were threatened, efforts from the firefighters saved all five homes. Current estimations place the fire at 60 Acres and it is currently border-line contained. Fire fighters are on structure protection, ensuring no homes are damaged or destroyed by this fire.
